About Simon
I have a passion for helping people learn chemistry and science. I love the challenge of finding new ways of helping people understand science through a variety of techniques, including analogies, pictures, simulations and hands-on experience.
I have a wealth of experience in teaching. I am currently HOD Chemistry at a high school and have 8 years experience in this role. I teach level 2 and 3 chemistry and NZ Scholarship. My previous roles also heavily featured teaching. I have a Masters in Materials Engineering (University of Birmingham) and a PhD in Chemistry (University College London).

The first lesson we'll figure out what standards need to be covered, especially if there is something urgent, and look at some questions together to assess your needs. We can then discuss a plan for future lessons and leave you with some homework we can discuss next lesson.
Further lessons will be 1 hour and will be tailored to the individual needs of the student. We will always be focused on where you are currently at with your understanding and what is required to get you to the next level. There will be lots of feedback and discussion of your written work so that you can see how to make progress. I'll leave you with some homework which I'll have you email me so that I can mark it and prepare feedback before our next lesson.
