About Aidan
I am currently a third year chemist at the University of St. Andrews. My favourite part about chemistry is the practical, hands-on work and the problem solving that goes along with it. I was also able to study first and second year maths at university in addition to chemistry. Alongside my studies I have been heavily involved with the rowing club for the duration of my time. I was fortunate to coach the beginner men’s squad last year and this year I was elected as captain of the senior men’s squad. I have been involved in volunteer rowing coaching in some capacity for the past 5 years. I enjoy passing on experiences and advice to help others better themselves. I found school exams and applying for university an overwhelming task, however I found taking it step-by-step, practicing and building confidence make it much more feasible.

I believe that learning should always be challenging but manageable. I like to take tutoring on a person-by-person approach as it is my belief that techniques that work really well for one person may not be effective for another person. I can help my students improve by setting and going over practice questions, by breaking down difficult concepts into manageable pieces, and by helping students develop their own effective revision technique. I always try to revise in a way that is not boring and repetitive, but in a way that is interesting and engaging.
