About Ian
My journey in chemistry began with curiosity about how substances interact and transform into something entirely new. This passion led me to complete a B.Sc in Chemical Sciences followed by an M.Sc in Industrial Chemistry, where I explored both theoretical chemistry and practical applications. Over the past 9 years, I have helped students overcome confusion and gain confidence through structured teaching and supportive guidance.
My teaching style is patient, practical, and concept-driven. I break down difficult calculations into simple steps, use relatable examples, and ensure students understand the reasoning behind each method. I encourage learners to ask questions freely and build independence in problem-solving.
Outside tutoring, I remain engaged with chemistry through continued study, reading research developments, and exploring its role in industry and innovation. Teaching chemistry is deeply rewarding because I see learners grow from uncertainty into strong understanding. My goal is to help students master chemistry with confidence and curiosity.

Chemistry becomes much clearer when students see it as the study of transformation and structure rather than a list of formulae to memorise. In my lessons, I guide learners through atomic theory, bonding, stoichiometry, acids and bases, equilibrium, and reaction kinetics with supportive explanation. I focus on helping students understand why reactions happen and how chemical principles connect to real-world systems. Each session includes problem-solving practice, step-by-step guidance, and encouragement so learners feel steady progress. My goal is to make chemistry approachable, logical, and rewarding.
Lessons are tailored to student level. Beginners strengthen foundations in the periodic table, bonding, and basic reaction writing. Intermediate learners build skill in calculations, balancing equations, molar relationships, and lab-based understanding. Advanced students explore thermodynamics, kinetics, electrochemistry, and exam-focused mastery. Practice exercises and feedback are woven into every lesson.
Chemistry lessons also develop analytical thinking and confidence with complex systems. Students learn to approach calculations calmly and understand chemical behaviour deeply. Many gain motivation when they see chemistry’s importance in medicine, engineering, and everyday life. My mission is to help learners succeed academically while developing strong scientific reasoning.
