About Nikola
Hello! I’m Nikola Nestorović — a Chess Grandmaster (GM), FIDE Certified Trainer, and full-time professional coach with a FIDE rating of 2454. I specialize in helping motivated students of all ages improve quickly through clear explanations, practical training, and personalized guidance.
Over the years, I’ve coached players at every level:

My teaching approach comes from both experience and education.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in teaching, and since 2016 I have worked as a professional chess coach, constantly refining my methodology.
I also created two Chessable courses — “Trade or Not to Trade” and “Perfect Your Pieces” — which have helped thousands of students understand complex ideas in a simple and practical way.
As a player, I have achieved several career highlights, including:
• 2770 performance rating to earn my second GM norm in Sarajevo

What you will get in our lessons:

Teaching Method & Techniques
My teaching is fully personalized. Every student learns differently, and my first goal is always to understand your strengths, weaknesses, and long-term goals. From there, I build a structured plan designed specifically for you.
Since 2016, I have developed a wide collection of custom training materials, including:
-calculation exercises
-opening files and repertoires
-model games
-positional strategy examples
-endgame practice sheets
-tournament preparation routines
After each lesson, I provide targeted homework, so you continue improving even between sessions. This helps reinforce the concepts we learn and accelerates long-term progress.
What a Typical Lesson Looks Like:
I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, each lesson is adapted to what you need most at that moment:
-fixing key mistakes in your recent games
-building or improving your opening repertoire
-sharpening calculation and visualization
-learning strategic patterns and positional understanding
-mastering essential endgames
-preparing for tournaments with professional structure
Every session is practical, focused, and designed to bring immediate improvement to your play.
What Sets Me Apart as a Coach:
Beyond my many years of coaching experience, I have also created two highly rated Chessable courses:
-“Trade or Not to Trade”
-“Perfect Your Pieces”
These projects helped me refine my ability to explain complex ideas in a simple, clear, and actionable way.
I have also had the privilege of working with top players, including:
-Grandmaster Aleksandar Indjić (Serbian Champion)
-U.S. rising star Josiah Stearman
Training players at this level has given me deep insight into the skills required for high-performing chess improvement, which I bring to every student—at all levels.
Who the Lessons Are For:
My lessons are suitable for all levels, including:
-complete beginners
-club players aiming to reach 1600–2000+
-competitive tournament players
-adults returning to chess
-gifted juniors
-advanced players and titled professionals
I take pride in adapting my approach to each individual. Whether your goal is improvement, competition, enjoyment, or long-term mastery, I will guide you with structure, clarity, and commitment.
