About Zura
Hi fellow chess enthusiasts! I am Zura, International Master with over 2 decades of experience in the world of competitive chess. Throughout my journey, I've had the privilege of honing my skills on and off the board as a mentor and coach. Whether you're just starting out on your chess journey or want to fine-tune your skills to play your best game, I am happy to guide you every step of the way. My FIDE rating has been +2450 (2500+ USCF) for quite some time and I am on an active quest to cross 2500 and claim the Grandmaster Title. Over the years, I've had the pleasure of working with a diverse array of students, ranging from beginners taking their first steps to seasoned players that have achieved titles of National and International Masters. Many of my students have gone on to achieve remarkable success in local and national tournaments. Some of my notable disciples include: Andy Woodward, who for some time held the record of Youngest Grandmaster in the World, and Grayson Rorrer, who recently crossed 2400 level and is close to claim International Master title. I am committed to continually expanding my own knowledge and refining my teaching techniques to ensure that you receive the highest caliber of instruction possible. With access to most resources on the market, including cutting-edge software, annotated game databases, and insightful literature, I make sure to stay on top of the competition. Some of my notable achievements include: Winner of US Grand Prix in 2020 (most tournaments won in US) Winner of Southwest Class Championship 2020, 2022 5x Texas State Champion
