About Alex
I started playing chess at the age of 6. Back in China, I was a key player of the school chess team and had won multiple municipal-level competitions for the school. My chess journey continued after I moved to Canada, and I had outstanding performance in various tournaments (1st place in Vancouver Chess Festival #10 U1800, 1st place in 2025 BC Open U1800, etc). Current CFC rating: 1834, (concealed information) rapid rating: 2248. I can teach in English, Mandarin, or Cantonese.

Making chess lessons fun and engaging is the top priority! My lessons are tailored to the differences among students. I will include opening theories, middle-game strategies and tactics, endgame play, and reviews of GM games or student's games, customized according to each student's needs. I will ensure that everyone can learn and implement the material at their own pace.
