About Devis

Hi! I’m Devis, an Italian musician, songwriter and teacher currently based in Ireland.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Popular Music from the Conservatory of Trento, Italy, as well as a BTEC Extended Diploma in Music. I have experience teaching singing, acoustic guitar and Italian to students of different ages and levels, and I also have a strong background in chess as both a player and tournament organizer.

As a teacher, I believe that learning works best when lessons are adapted to the individual. Everyone has different goals, interests and ways of learning, so I try to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students can ask questions, make mistakes and gradually build confidence.

Whether you are starting from scratch, looking to improve an existing skill, preparing for a specific goal, or simply learning something you enjoy, I will tailor the lessons to you and make sure you understand not only *what* you are doing, but also *why*.

I’m friendly, patient and passionate about what I teach, and I always aim to make lessons practical, engaging and enjoyable.

Feel free to get in touch and tell me a little about yourself and what you would like to achieve!

About the lesson

I believe chess should be learned by understanding the ideas behind each move, rather than simply memorizing openings or patterns.

My lessons are practical and adapted to each student. Depending on their level and goals, we can work on tactics, strategy, openings, endgames, game analysis and decision-making. I also like to use the student's own games as a learning tool, as they are a great way to identify strengths and areas for improvement.

Lessons typically last 50 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged.

I have experience as a chess player and tournament organizer, and I hold a National chess arbiter qualification. I teach complete beginners as well as intermediate players, and I am happy to work with both children and adults.

My aim is to make chess challenging, understandable and, most importantly, enjoyable.
