About Genevieve
My teaching methodology is based on Positivity, Empathy, and a Critical Thinking approach. I believe in creating a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore and grow. Chess is all about strategy, foresight, and adaptability, so I focus on helping students develop a deep understanding of key concepts such as openings, middlegames, and endgames. I break down complex strategies into simple, digestible steps, using real-life game examples and puzzles to reinforce learning. I also believe in being empathetic to each student's unique learning style and pace. I make sure to adapt lessons to their needs, helping them overcome challenges while maintaining a sense of achievement. As a mentor, I guide students not just through chess moves, but through the process of critical thinking, helping them improve their decision-making both on and off the board.
