About Avery
I am a current student at VCU, and a former preschool teacher, teaching toddlers to preschool for about 4 years. In my time in grade school and college, I was praised for writing ability. I have always gone out of my way to lend a hand to peers, friends, and family members when they ran into issues. I decided I wanted to work with children to aid them in their reading and literacy development as well. I understand how difficult it can be to be faced with a complex prompt, and try to figure out how to tackle that prompt in an efficient and engaging way. I am patient, understanding, and empathetic to every student's situation and my goal will always be to help them improve, even if it is by a small margin.

A typical lesson plan would begin with a short warm up prompt to get the juices flowing!
We would use aspects of that prompt to dive deeper into strengthening that students' writing skills.
Through different activities and learning methods that will be accessible to both the student and their parents, I would hope to strengthen their writing by at least one letter grade before our time is over.
I would prefer to specialize in students from 5th-12th grade, but also have an elementary education background to help with more basic writing skills.
