About Barbara
Hi! I’m a bilingual native Chinese speaker and a high school student who’s passionate about language learning and teaching. I understand how challenging it can be to learn a new language, and my goal is to make Chinese feel more approachable, practical, and fun. My lessons are flexible and always tailored to the individual needs of the student—whether you’re learning Chinese for school, an exam, or just personal interest. I’m comfortable teaching in both English and Chinese, and I can adjust my teaching style depending on your level, pace, and the material you’re working with. Whether you need help understanding grammar, practicing conversation, or reviewing class content, I’ve got you covered. A typical session might start with a quick review, followed by introducing new words or concepts, and then practicing through conversation, examples, or exercises. I always make sure to end with a short recap so everything sticks! As a Chinese tutor, I will focus on creating an engaging and supportive learning environment. As a high school student, I can connect to younger kids very easily. My teaching method blends customized content based on everyone with practical, real-world usage from a native speaker, helping students build both fluency and confidence.
Each lesson typically begins with a warm-up and review, which helps me assess each student and teach accordingly. Followed by focused instruction on the parts the student might need help with. We wrap up with a quick recap and personalized feedback to reinforce learning.

I will emphasize cultural context alongside language, helping students better understand how Chinese is used in everyday life and in formal settings. I am also an expert at dealing with kids.
