About Sophie
I am a native speaker of both Mandarin and Vietnamese languages. I graduated from Wuhan University (in China) with a PhD in Applied Linguistics. I also have a Masters degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. I have been teaching different programs and different languages (Chinese, Vietnamese and English) for eight years in private schools and universities in China, Vietnam and Canada.

I can use English to teach Mandarin and Vietnamese. While completing my bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees in Wuhan, China, I also had experience in teaching Chinese and Vietnamese to speakers of other languages. Most notably, I have taught a wide range of international students with varying linguistic backgrounds in Central China Normal University and Wuhan University in a classroom and one-to-one basis for a period of three years. In addition, I also have hands-on experience teaching children. While in Wuhan, I acted as program director and curriculum coordinator for a private English language school directed toward teaching local elementary school students English. In addition to the above, I also have hands-on experience teaching Mandarin in Canada. Through this experience, I utilized my education in second language pedagogy to tailor a structured and rewarding learning experience for students of varying levels (children, youth, adults) and taught groups and individual lessons online and in-person.
