About Anita
Hi there! I am pleased to introduce myself as a passionate Chinese tutor with a strong academic background and a love for language learning. I graduated from the Australian National University with a degree in Asian Studies, majoring in Chinese Studies and Linguistics. I am currently a postgraduate student in International Law and Diplomacy to further enrich my understanding of global cultures and legal frameworks. Growing up in a bilingual environment in Australia, I experienced the challenges of learning Chinese as a native English speaker. This unique perspective has fueled my empathy and enabled me to wholeheartedly assist those who wish to understand and learn Chinese. My personal interest in Chinese-English translation has deepened my understanding of the nuances of the two languages and cultures. I am also a small group volunteer teacher at a Chinese language school. I understand the difficulties that English language learners face when learning Chinese, and I am here to share the strategies and insights that have helped me succeed. I provide online and in-person Chinese language classes, catering to a wide range of needs from beginners to advanced. I tailor my lessons to suit requirements with session lengths varying from 45 to 60 minutes (longer time upon request). My teaching includes reading, speaking, writing and in-depth study of Chinese literature and culture. During my undergraduate studies at the Australian National University, I took courses in Linguistics, Second Language Teaching, Chinese and English Interpreting and Translation, and Chinese History and Culture. These academic pursuits honed my teaching methods. They have enriched my understanding of nuance, which is crucial to effective Chinese language teaching.
