About Me
Hi, I'm Dara — a university lecturer with over 10 years of teaching experience in China, and a PhD candidate at a QS Top 200 University. Yes, I teach Mandarin, but honestly, I love sharing so much more than just the language.
Learning Chinese with me means you'll also get a window into Chinese culture, the way Chinese people think, and the little nuances that textbooks never quite capture. Understanding the people behind the language makes all the difference — and that's something I genuinely enjoy passing on.

With a background as a university lecturer in China and an ongoing PhD in Finance, I bring both academic rigor and real-world practicality to every Mandarin lesson. My teaching philosophy goes beyond the classroom — I believe real progress happens when learning becomes a daily habit, not just a one-hour session.

I offer two lesson formats to suit different needs and schedules:
25-minute sessions — Ideal for young children, quick focused practice, or busy professionals who want consistent short bursts of learning
55-minute sessions — Best for exam preparation, deeper grammar work, or students who want a more comprehensive learning experience each time

Every lesson is tailored to the individual. For younger learners, I use storytelling, games, and visual aids to make tones and characters engaging. For teenagers and adults, I focus on structured grammar, exam techniques, and real-life conversation practice that builds confidence efficiently.
A typical lesson follows a clear framework: we open with a review of previous material, move into focused new content, practice through exercises or drills, and close with a summary and homework assignment — all within your chosen time slot.
