About Sumat
I am a Civil Engineer with a bachelor’s degree from the University of British Columbia. Prior to this, I worked as a technologist in an engineering consulting firm for 3 years.
So far, I have learned that science and maths have been the backbone of my career. They are not that tricky. In high school, I remember being the kid with “silly questions” until I met my maths tutor who taught me that there’s no such thing and bolstered my confidence in STEM.
I believe it’s my obligation now to pass on the acquired problem-solving skills and knowledge, and help students discover new ways to tackle their challenges.

I remember when math and science started intimidating me in high school, and that was the last thing I wanted to do in homework. Now, I’m a civil engineer who applies scientific concepts in practice and enjoys every bit of it.
My logic is simple: if you don’t understand something, take a step back. Keep going back until you are confident moving forward. I encourage questions until you actually get it.

Hi guys! I'm kinda forced to tell you about my experiences with Sumat. I was literally suffering in the subject area of chemistry when it came to those chemical equations, just balancing. It didn't come to my mind, no matter how hard I tried. Then I got into Sumat's session. He explained everything from the basics and shared a couple of really cool tricks that help you remember the steps. It just finally clicked! Last week I got an A on my test, and I actually understood what I was doing. If you need math or science help, Sumat is the best!
I’ve been helped by Sumat for my structural analysis course final which was worth 50% of my grade. His deep understanding in the subject matter helped me gain confidence and I was able to get 83% in the exam within a few days of regular practice.
