About Kaumadi
Hi, I’m Kaumadi Abeykoon. I am a Civil Engineering graduate from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, and I have completed my Master’s degree in Water and Environmental Engineering.
I am currently working at QUT as a tutor and laboratory demonstrator for second-year Civil Engineering students. Through this role, I support students in understanding engineering concepts, solving problems, and developing confidence in their studies.
I enjoy teaching because I like helping students understand concepts clearly and feel confident in their learning. I am patient, supportive, and explain lessons in a simple and structured way. During my undergraduate studies, I also participated in volunteer programs supporting students in rural schools in Sri Lanka, where access to educational resources was limited. These experiences strengthened my commitment to inclusive education and student support.
I am particularly interested in teaching Mathematics and Physics. My goal is to help students strengthen their conceptual understanding, develop problem-solving skills, and improve their confidence and exam performance.

I provide structured, step-by-step lessons in Mathematics and Physics for school students, with a focus on building strong fundamentals and confidence. I explain concepts using simple examples and guide students through problem-solving and exam-style questions. I also teach relevant university-level subjects, including Structural Mechanics, Mechanics of Materials, and related Civil Engineering subjects, based on my current teaching experience at QUT. Lessons can be tailored to each student’s level, needs, and learning goals.
