About me:

I have just completed my A-Level exams at Maidstone Grammar School and have achieved three A* grades in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics. In addition to this, I achieved an A grade in A-Level Economics.
I will begin studying for a Masters in Civil Engineering on 23rd September 2019 at the University of Nottingham. I am looking to tutor students online so that I can get to know them before I move up to Nottingham. Once I move to Nottingham, I will be available for both online and face-to-face tutoring. Selecting online tutoring is the most appropriate choice for anyone that will require me to be more flexible.
My experience:

During my time in the sixth form, I studied A-Level Further Mathematics. This meant that by the end of Year 12 I had completed a large part of the normal A-Level Mathematics course. Because of this, my peers would often ask me for help with work that they were struggling with. However, rather than simply giving them the answers, I would explain a method used for answering the question. This was often successful, and it meant that my peers would improve their understanding of a certain topic and would be able to complete similar questions without assistance in the future. Overall, this greatly developed my ability to explain to others.
My approach:

I will always begin by contacting the tutee beforehand so that I can find out if they have any particular areas that they are struggling with.
If they do have particular areas of concern, I will work through questions on those difficult topics with them. Firstly, I will thoroughly explain any methods involved in answering the question and be patient while working through harder questions with them. Gradually I will reduce the amount of help that I give them with each question so that they are prepared for an exam-style situation.
If the tutee is not sure on which areas they are finding the most challenging, I will take the time to work through past papers with them. After each question has been answered (either with or without my help), the question will be highlighted in either red, yellow or green. This will allow me to systematically identify which areas will require the largest amount of focus.
