About Katie

I am a classically trained pianist and composer with over 20 years of experience, including conservatory training on scholarship during my formative years. I have a strong foundation in classical performance, music theory, and composition. I also hold a PhD in Integrative Biosciences and currently serve as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Tuskegee University. I am passionate about sharing my musical knowledge and helping students develop confidence, creativity, and technical proficiency through personalized piano instruction.

About the lesson

My piano lessons are designed to help students develop strong musical foundations while discovering their individual creativity and musical expression. As a classically trained pianist and composer with over 20 years of experience, including conservatory training on scholarship, I incorporate classical technique, music theory, sight-reading, ear training, and composition into my instruction.

Each lesson is tailored to the student’s experience level, learning style, and musical interests. Whether you’re a beginner learning to read music or an intermediate pianist seeking to strengthen your technique, I emphasize patience, consistency, and building confidence at the keyboard. My goal is to help students develop both technical proficiency and a lifelong appreciation for music.
