About Catherine
My interest in programming began with curiosity about building functional solutions from logical steps. This led me to pursue a B.Sc in Computer Science and an M.Sc in Software Development, equipping me with both foundational and advanced expertise. Over 9 years, I have taught students from beginners to advanced coders, helping them gain confidence, analytical skills, and coding proficiency.
I teach with clarity, structured guidance, and interactive exercises. Lessons emphasise experimentation, problem-solving, and understanding underlying concepts rather than memorisation. I encourage students to explore independently, ask questions, and develop creative solutions.
Outside teaching, I stay involved in coding projects, emerging technologies, and software development trends, bringing relevance and inspiration into the classroom. Witnessing learners grow from uncertainty to confident programmers is incredibly rewarding and motivates me to continually refine my teaching approach.

Programming is a skill that blends logic, creativity, and problem-solving, and my lessons make it accessible and practical for students at all levels. Students learn programming fundamentals, algorithms, data structures, object-oriented concepts, and project-based coding through structured exercises, clear explanations, and interactive examples. I emphasise understanding the reasoning behind code rather than rote memorisation, cultivating analytical skills, independent thinking, and confidence in building functional programs.
Lessons are personalised based on skill level. Beginners focus on basic syntax, loops, conditionals, and problem-solving strategies to build a strong foundation. Intermediate learners tackle object-oriented programming, modular design, debugging, and algorithmic thinking to strengthen reasoning and coding fluency. Advanced learners engage with complex algorithms, optimisation, software architecture, and project planning, preparing for academic challenges or professional opportunities. Each session integrates exercises, guided discussion, and practical application to reinforce learning.
Programming lessons help students develop structured thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity applicable beyond coding.
