About Kjersten
Hello, hello! I’m Kjersten, and I am a college senior pursuing a B.A. in Global Studies. I have taken a plethora of college courses in English, ESL, teaching English, and composition. I have tutored a variety of grade levels ranging from early elementary up through college. Wherever you want to take your writing, I will help you get there. From beginner to expert, everyone can always improve, and no one is too inexperienced. I can’t wait to help you on your writing journey!

My lessons depend heavily on the student. I will examine the student’s proficiency in English comprehension, writing styles and genres, grammar, and parts of speech. Additionally, I will look at their class material and requirements to create a plan tailored to their academic goals. We will look at the long-term plan and destination that the student sees for himself/herself.
A typical lesson plan after evaluating the student would start with some grammar reps to warm up. This would include practice in identifying parts of speech, diagramming sentences, etc. I would then begin work with the student in his/her struggle area(s). Following that, we would work on any class assignments (such as research for papers or creating a thesis) or prepare for tests. At the end, I enjoy chatting with the student to figure out what he/she enjoys writing about and what would make this subject more enjoyable for him/her. This allows for even better planning in the future.
These lessons can be for anyone! I have experience from early elementary up through college. We will work together to create a plan that feels achievable and encourages growth.
