About Terhen
I’m a passionate language enthusiast currently studying to become a Finnish language teacher at the University of Helsinki, alongside completing my master’s degree in general linguistics at the University of Western Finland. My studies include the Karelian language, and I’m about to begin learning Sámi as well. I have a strong interest in languages, minority cultures, and the stories they tell. I teach in Finnish, English, and Russian, and I can also use some other languages, such as Lithuanian, to support my lessons. My main focus is teaching Finnish, but I also enjoy explaining the differences between Finnish and Karelian, sharing insights into Karelian culture, and helping students explore the richness of these languages. I can also provide beginner-level Russian lessons. Whether you want to start learning Finnish from scratch, improve your skills, or discover new perspectives on language and culture, I’d be happy to guide you on your journey.

Through my studies, I have gained a strong foundation in language pedagogy, grammar, and teaching methods. I have also had the opportunity to practice teaching in various academic settings, such as group work, peer teaching, and classroom simulations.
With me you can study grammar, vocabulary and conversational Finnish whether you are a complete beginner or have already some knowledge of Finnish.
I am passionate about helping others learn Finnish and I am eager to apply my knowledge in real teaching situations. I am confident in my ability to create engaging lessons, support learners at different levels, and adapt to individual needs.
