About Jacquie
I taught English as a foreign language to adults in France for six years. My students were a broad range of business people, undergraduate student nurses and retired people. I have a Cambridge CELTA and have also taught pre-sessional EAP (English for Academic Purposes). Having spent 36 years in an environment where I was the foreigner, I have first-hand experience of the difficulties of communicating in a language that is not my own.

Although I prefer face-to-face teaching, online teaching (Skype or Zoom) is now an essential part of our lives. My classes are student-driven, ensuring that the student is at the centre of the programme. I use a broad range of media: print, audio and video, with a focus on cultural and current affairs. I believe that vocabulary gives us the building blocks of a language, but grammar is the essential cement that holds language together.
