About Merita
I am a caring and flexible person. I have worked as an educator for 5 years. During my course of employment, I have worked with different types of learners to support them in reaching their full potential. Assisting in a child’s growth is something I find incredibly fulfilling. As a teacher, I aim to instil a love for learning in my students through engaging and authentic experiences.
Working in various contexts with children has helped me to understand that each child is different, they have unique interests, ways of learning, needs and cultures. It is from numerous experiences that I have come to appreciate the importance of understanding your students learning styles and catering to them.
I have collaborated with experienced teachers to construct individual lesson plans for students with disabilities, catering to their individual needs. I have provided learning and emotional support to numerous children and have had excellent results with students.

The Socratic Method:
This form of instruction is sometimes called the inquiry method. It is based upon a student’s current level of understanding of a subject. Questions progress from what the student knows, and progresses towards new ideas. Thought-provoking questions are an excellent way to inspire students to think for themselves and become more independent thinking.
Modelled work:
Modelling to students various skills and allowing students to see multiple examples of work.
Providing students with various opportunities to apply new learnings.
I believe the most important thing we can do for children is provide them with a safe learning environment, where they feel confident to ask questions and comfortable to make mistakes.
