About Jayde
If the student's needs are nurtured, I believe a lot of joy and self-confidence can be grown while learning. While it should be challenging, learning should also inspire curiosity, joy, and engagement. I became a teacher because I wish to be a lifelong student, and it is my goal to give my students the tools to do the same.

As an educator, I take a hands-on approach to ensure students understand how to problem-solve before moving to abstraction on paper and mentally. Through deep understanding, students can take on challenges rationally and better pull from their previous knowledge and skills. Depending on our focus, I will typically teach lessons in a three-part dynamic in which a student sees me work though problems while thinking out loud, then work through a set of sequentially challenging tasks together, finishing with observing the student work to adjust my style to enhance the student's comprehension. What sets me apart as a tutor is my Montessori training, which has allowed me to deeply observe the child and make quick adjustments to serve their learning style best and needs rather than telling the child how they must learn and what pace they must go at. Rather than making the child's success fully dependent on me, I allow them to grow their independence and internal motivation and engagement to foster their growth. I specialize in elementary; however, as students move at their own pace, I also feel confident in extending my skills to older students.
