About Virat
Hi, I'm Virat — an Auckland-based photographer, videographer, and content creator with 5 years of professional experience producing visual content for brands, social media campaigns, and digital marketing clients.
I currently shoot on an iPhone 17 Pro and a mirrorless camera, edit in Adobe Premiere Pro and CapCut, and create content published on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook. Alongside my practical work, I am completing a Master of Business Informatics (Business Analytics) at Yoobee Colleges in Auckland, which provides me with a strong foundation in both the creative and analytical aspects of digital content.
I started teaching photography because I know how frustrating it is to have a great camera — or even just a great phone — and not know how to use it properly. My lessons are practical, patient, and tailored to where you are right now. Whether you are a complete beginner looking to understand your settings, someone building a social media presence, or a small business owner looking to take better photos of your products, I will help you get there.

My approach to photography tutoring is hands-on from the first lesson. I do not believe in spending hours on theory before picking up a camera — we learn by shooting, reviewing, and adjusting in real time. Every student is different, so I start by understanding what you want to achieve, whether that is mastering your camera settings, improving your composition, building a social media portfolio, or learning to edit professionally.
Techniques and methodology: I focus on three core pillars — understanding your camera (exposure triangle, manual mode, lenses), developing your eye (composition, lighting, framing), and post-production (editing in Lightroom or Premiere Pro for video). I use a mix of guided exercises, live feedback on your own shots, and practical assignments between sessions to build real skills fast.
Typical lesson length: 60 to 90 minutes. Shorter sessions work well for focused topics like editing; longer sessions suit outdoor shoots or hands-on practice.
Qualifications and experience: I have 5 years of professional videography and content creation experience, shooting on iPhone 17 Pro and mirrorless cameras for clients across social media, marketing campaigns, and brand content. I currently run my own YouTube channel and have produced content for 5+ clients simultaneously.
Who the lessons are for: Beginners to intermediate level — anyone who wants to move beyond auto mode, improve their social media content, or learn short-form video creation for TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube. All ages welcome.
