Work History and Work Experience
Debate Mate Mentor, 11/2022 to 04/2023
I delivered a debating curriculum to secondary school aged children between Year 7 and Year 10 in disadvantaged areas. This required me to:
Develop students’ teamwork, leadership, confidence and critical thinking skills through the use of debating concepts
Raise students’ aspirations for the future by engaging them in conversations about the wider world and issues that affect different communities
Communicate with teachers in order to further develop students’ debating skills
Judge debate competitions and provide detailed feedback - this strengthened by critical thinking skills, as well as my mental flexibility
Mathematics Tutor, 08/2020 to 10/2021
During the pandemic, I taught mathematics to primary school aged children between 6 and 11 over zoom. This required me to:
Create lessons of varying difficulty on PowerPoint
Leverage technology and visual aids to engage students and enhance learning, this was done via animating the PowerPoint
Condense information into smaller, more packageable chunks to make it easier for the students to digest
Collaborate with students to go over homework that was set, allowing me to identify lagging skills and correct weaknesses
Design age-appropriate maths activities to help student progression, as I was tutoring students from KS1 to KS2
Qualifications:
Grade A in Biology A level (2022)
Grade 9 in Biology IGCSE and Maths IGCSE (2020)
