About Jessie
Hello, I’m Jessie, a concert pianist and experienced piano teacher based in London, currently undertaking doctoral research at a London conservatoire. Winner of several international piano competitions, I regularly perform as a soloist and in chamber and orchestral projects. My performance work has taken me to venues across the UK, including the Barbican and Blackheath Halls, as well as to China, continental Europe and Australia. As a teacher, I prepare students for piano exams, concerts, conservatoire entrance auditions and music scholarship applications. I have taught both children and adults, from complete beginners starting from scratch to advanced pianists preparing for ABRSM and ARSM examinations. My students have achieved Distinctions in ABRSM exams, and I also incorporate music theory into lessons where appropriate, helping students develop a more complete understanding of music. I also enjoy helping students who simply want to learn piano as a hobby. Whether you are working towards a specific goal or learning for enjoyment, I aim to make lessons engaging, encouraging and tailored to each student’s individual needs.

In my teaching, I like to keep lessons varied and engaging, drawing on my eight years of teaching experience. Depending on each student’s age, level and goals, we may work on technique, scales, sight-reading, rhythm, aural skills, music theory and, of course, piano pieces. I teach both children and adults, from complete beginners starting from scratch to advanced students preparing for ABRSM and ARSM exams, concerts, auditions, conservatoire applications and music scholarships.
For students preparing for an exam or concert, I like to make a clear plan and work towards the goal step by step. My students have achieved Distinctions in ABRSM exams, and I also incorporate music theory into lessons where appropriate. For students learning simply for fun, I am always happy to explore music they enjoy and choose pieces that keep them interested, while gradually developing their technique and musical understanding. I believe that consistent practice is important, but it should also be enjoyable. Even 15–20 minutes of focused practice each day can make a real difference. I encourage students to build piano practice naturally into their daily routine, so that they can make steady progress without feeling overwhelmed. For younger students, I also encourage parents to support and encourage them through this process. Learning an instrument takes patience, but seeing their own progress can be a very rewarding part of learning to love music.
I am based in E1 and mainly teach around the Whitechapel–Canary Wharf area. Students are welcome to have lessons at my private piano studio If you have a particular piece, exam, audition or musical goal in mind, please feel free to get in touch and we can discuss what would work best for you.
Above all, I am patient, attentive and encouraging in my teaching. I want students, especially children, to feel comfortable trying new things and working through challenges, while gradually building confidence, independence and a genuine love of music.
