About Esperanza Varela
Teaching Spanish feels like an extension of the communication skills I refined while working in music studios across the globe. I hold an MMus in Piano Performance from Berklee College of Music, but my linguistic expertise is equally rigorous.
I work with 425 students who often seek to bridge the gap between textbook grammar and actual real-world usage during their travels or career transitions. It is common to see learners struggle with the shift between Latin American and Castilian variants until we break them down into digestible patterns. Communication starts mid-thought, because language is really about responding to the world around you rather than reciting rules. My approach centers on 8-hour blocks of intensive focus that force you to think in your target language. It has been 13 years of experience in education that taught me how to adjust these concepts for diverse learners. We utilize role play and dialogue practice to simulate actual life scenarios.
Listening practice remains a constant priority. Vocabulary building happens naturally through engagement.
Speed matters less than accuracy. Keep the conversation moving forward. You will find that regular practice is actually quite fun.
