About Sonya

I am a cooking instructor with commercial cookery experience and a master’s degree in nutrition and public health. I help students build practical cooking skills, confidence in the kitchen, and healthier eating habits through personalized guidance and hands-on lessons. I have experience running community cooking programs, and private cooking classes, supporting students of all ages and backgrounds. My expertise includes vegetarian and vegan cooking, dietary adaptations, fermentation, baking, and a wide range of global cuisines including Indian, Chinese, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, and Scandinavian. I focus on teaching skills, building confidence, and supporting healthy meal planning, using nutrition-informed approaches to help students prepare balanced, satisfying meals. My lessons are suitable for beginners, experienced cooks, young adults, migrants, or anyone looking to improve their cooking and meal-prep abilities. Every session is tailored to your goals, pace, and lifestyle, ensuring you feel supported and capable every step of the way. I take a practical, personalised approach to cooking coaching. Every student begins with a short assessment so I can understand their goals, eating habits, food preferences, skill level, and any barriers they face in the kitchen. From there, I create a tailored plan that focuses on building healthy cooking habits, developing strong foundational cooking skills, and improving confidence in planning and preparing meals at home.

Students learn how to make meals that fit their lifestyle, budget, and health goals—not just follow recipes. I also incorporate key nutrition principles to help students understand how to make balanced, satisfying meals long after our sessions end.

Your first free session includes a short survey to assess your current skills, goals, and eating habits. I will then review your responses and meet with you online for a 30–40 minute discussion where we talk through personalised recommendations and next steps.
After the initial assessment, I offer a 1-hour online session where I present personalised recommendations and show how to apply them in daily life. This may include healthy tweaks to favourite recipes, grocery shopping advice or building a weekly cooking plan. Follow-up sessions can be arranged to cover specific questions, troubleshoot challenges, or include a live cooking class where I demonstrate techniques and processes.

I bring commercial cookery experience and hold a master’s degree in nutrition and public health. I’ve worked extensively in community cooking programs and hands-on workshops supporting diverse groups to build their food skills and confidence. I have experience with vegetarian and vegan cooking, dietary requirements, fermentation, baking, and cuisines including Indian, Chinese, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, and Scandinavian.

My consultations are suitable for beginners or experienced cooks, young adults, migrants building independence, and anyone wanting to eat healthier, cook more confidently, or improve their meal-planning and prep skills. Details

As I’m just starting out on Superprof, I’m offering introductory rates for my first few students. This allows you to access personalised 1-on-1 cooking guidance and nutrition-informed meal planning at a lower price while I build experience and gather feedback. The price includes all lesson preparation, personalised recommendations, and guidance on practical cooking, meal planning, and healthy eating habits. Students do not need to provide any additional materials, and sessions will be conducted online. Once I have a few sessions and reviews, my standard rates will reflect the full value of my commercial cookery and nutrition-backed advice.
