About Kimberli
Hi! I'm Kimmi Fodor, a music educator, curriculum designer, and lifelong student of music with more than 20 years of teaching experience.
I began studying piano and violin with private teachers as a child, and those early experiences sparked a lifelong fascination with how people learn music. Over the years, I've taught students of all ages and continually refined my approach, searching for ways to make music more intuitive, creative, and meaningful.
In 2020, I made a discovery that transformed my teaching. By using color and geometric relationships to reveal the patterns within music, I found that students developed deeper musical understanding, stronger confidence, and greater creative freedom. Instead of simply memorizing songs, they began to think musically—recognizing patterns, improvising, composing, and expressing themselves with genuine fluency.
I believe every child is naturally musical. My role as a teacher is to nurture that potential by creating lessons that are engaging, encouraging, and tailored to each student's unique way of learning. Whether a student dreams of performing on stage, writing original music, or simply enjoying music as a lifelong hobby, I strive to help them build the skills and confidence to thrive.
Outside of teaching, I'm passionate about designing innovative music curriculum, writing about music education, and exploring new ways to make music accessible, joyful, and deeply understood.

What sets my teaching apart is my emphasis on understanding. I want students to recognize the relationships within music so they can play with confidence, improvise freely, compose their own ideas, and continue growing long after lessons end. I help students develop the ability to think musically.
Every lesson is personalized to the student's age, interests, and developmental stage. Young children learn through stories, movement, games, singing, and creative play. As students grow, lessons expand to include sightreading, technique, composition, improvisation, ear training, and theory.
A typical lesson includes a balance of technical skill-building, creative exploration, and performance. Students might review a favorite pieces, learn a new piece, compose a song, or improvise with me.
