About Sophie
I am an enthusiastic piano tutor with 6 years of professional experience and a record of teaching around 300 students. My learners include teenagers, college students, and adults who want to improve their skills, prepare for exams, or enjoy learning piano as a hobby.
My teaching philosophy focuses on building strong technical foundations and nurturing musical expression. I emphasise correct posture, hand coordination, finger strength, rhythm training, scales, and sight-reading. I also integrate music theory so students understand harmony, chords, and structure in a practical way.
Lessons are structured to balance technical exercises, theory, and repertoire. Beginners develop confidence through simple exercises and melodies, while advanced students refine their performance techniques and explore complex pieces. Many students have achieved high marks in examinations and performed confidently in recitals.
My mission is to guide students to become confident, expressive, and independent pianists who enjoy their musical journey for years to come.

My approach to teaching piano combines strong communication, creative exploration, flexibility, and structured learning. Piano requires discipline, so I guide students step by step in building technical control and musical awareness.
I clearly demonstrate scales, chords, rhythm exercises, and dynamic control. Communication ensures students fully understand what they are practising and why it matters. Creativity keeps lessons enjoyable and meaningful. I encourage students to experiment with phrasing, tempo, and simple composition exercises.
Flexibility allows me to design lessons based on individual goals, whether preparing for exams, performances, or learning for personal interest. I also teach music theory, rhythm studies, and ear development to strengthen musicianship. My aim is to help students become confident and expressive performers.
