About Jandri
I am a 28 year female from Capetown, South Africa.
Born into a very traditional Afrikaans family where language usage & correct & clear pronunciation is admirable & preferred.
Originally from up North in South Africa where the Afrikaans language remains purer & closer to the older ways of speaking, whereas in Capetown it is a mixture of the older pronunciation as well as the influence of the Cape Coloured people, who have put their own "spin" on the Language & has a much different way of speaking down South than up North.
The vibrant and flamboyant ways of the Cape Coloured people has influenced the Afrikaans language in a similar way, with many different ways of expressing yourself through word usage & sounds & unique ways of pronunciation.
This has added a fun twist to what some might think of as old & outdated.
However the basics remain the same & provides a platform to learn from in getting the "hang" of the Afrikaans tongue.
Other than my mother tongue which you already know about me, here's a bit more information on me to help you make the choice on which teacher will fit your personality & learning style best.
I'm a fun loving, nature enthusiast with a flaire for creative writing as well as report writing & often wright about my daily adventures & interactions with people, nature & animals, in both English & Afrikaans.
I live in a lovely little coastal village town on the outskirts of Capetown with my long time partner & two beautiful dogs.
Besides my full time profession I also do marketing for our local businesses because we are a very saught after tourism based town with lots to see, explore & do.
This allows me to write daily on the fun to be had in our amazing, quaint little town as well as report on happenings & events coming up.
I also get to meet lots of interesting people from town & visitors enjoying town & it's offerings.
While I might not be a Language professor at university level, I'm relatable in the sense that I speak like every other local you'll meet in our lovely city of Capetown & will help you find your footing among the many wonderful ways of our Language.

What better way than to learn a Language from a Native speaker?
We'll cover every day usage with general phrases and "slang" as well as the older ways with purer language, all of which can be very descriptive & creative or short & sweet, & to the point.
Structured according to your needs & capabilities as an individual of another language we'll always keep that in mind and work at your pace to master a new one (Afrikaans).
My style of teaching is lighthearted & compassionate because I understand the obstacles to overcome when learning something new, especially another language when its not your own and doesn't come naturally.
We'll take it step by step, top to bottom , A to Z & everything in between.
