About Tommy
"Teaching Spanish means navigating the nuance of cultural context while mastering the idioms and expressions that define real-life conversations. Since earning my MA in Spanish from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2017, I have spent 13 years helping students navigate everything from travel Spanish and pronunciation to complex business Spanish and interview preparation. My approach centers on building vocabulary and grammar through everyday phrases for beginners because language is about connection.
You will find that my classroom is a space where reading comprehension meets the reality of being an immigrant community adjacent tutor working with families who truly need to communicate with one another effectively and simply. After guiding 472 students through rigorous AP Spanish and DELE exams, I understand how to bridge the gap between textbook learning and the spoken word. It is really about ensuring you feel confident whether you are navigating a job search, a family dinner, or a trip abroad. Working together, we focus on the mechanics of the language while keeping the human element at the center of the process."
