About Teddy
I'm a student with a lot of passion for maths and physics, as well as for learning in general. I follow research on learning, and revision, and always try to improve the way I learn and teach. I have aspirations to study maths and astrophysics at university. I always aim to prepare students aptly for a realistic deadline set by us both, with the intent that by that time, they should be able to complete an exam paper at their level and attain an improved grade they're proud of.
I've tutored and am tutoring students about to take their GCSE's in physics and maths, as well as a student in my own year taking A level Maths. Between sets of mock exams set 2 terms apart, one of my GCSE students rose from a grade 7 to a grade 9, and another from a grade 6 to a grade 8.

I'm a firm advocate for the importance of understanding above memorisation. In my lessons I like to take as much time as needed to build on knowledge a student already has and relate the target material to that with strong associations and understanding. For example I prefer to go through the algebraic derivation of formulae that might be needed, rather than introduce them and assure that they work. This means that a typical lesson will take at least an hour, but fast progress is made with good engagement.
I'm also very aware of what the current exam board specifications contain and require for certain exams, so you won't miss vital content, and I am prepared to teach content beyond the specification to strengthen understanding of the topic. All questions are welcome and encouraged!
