About Catherine
I am passionate about history and enjoy helping others discover the same interest in the subject that I have developed over the years. I want to tutor because I believe that with the right guidance and encouragement, every student can become more confident in their ability to understand and succeed in history. I particularly enjoy discussing historical events, exploring different interpretations, and helping students see the connections between the past and the world around them today. Through tutoring, I hope to share my enthusiasm for the subject while providing students with a supportive and approachable environment where they can ask questions, build their knowledge, and develop the confidence to reach their full potential.

My approach to history tutoring is centred around making history understandable, engaging, and relevant to each student. Rather than simply asking students to memorise dates and events, I encourage them to understand the causes, consequences, and different perspectives behind historical events, helping them develop the skills to analyse evidence and form well-supported arguments. I also adapt my teaching to suit each student’s individual strengths, areas for improvement, and learning style, creating a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and developing their confidence. My aim is not only to help students achieve better results, but to help them genuinely enjoy history and become more confident in their ability to think critically about the past.
