About Navya
I understand what it feels like to be a student who is expected to learn challenging material quickly. As a Human Biology student pursuing a pre-med path, I have experience with rigorous science and math coursework, including biology, chemistry, calculus, and statistics. I also completed the IB Diploma Programme, so I am familiar with the demands of advanced coursework, exams, internal assessments, and managing multiple challenging subjects at once.
I have also spent significant time tutoring and working with younger students. Because of this, I prioritize patience, encouragement, and creating an environment where students feel comfortable saying, "I don't understand this yet." My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to help them become more confident and independent learners.

My Teaching Method & Techniques
My approach to tutoring is centered around making difficult concepts feel understandable and manageable. I focus on understanding rather than memorization, so I first identify what a student already knows, where they are getting stuck, and how they learn best. From there, I break complicated topics into smaller steps and explain them using clear examples, analogies, visuals, and practice problems.
I also believe students should be actively involved in the learning process. Instead of simply explaining a concept and moving on, I ask questions, have students talk through their reasoning, and guide them toward the answer when they are stuck. This helps build confidence and teaches students how to approach unfamiliar problems independently.
A Typical Lesson
A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previous material and a check-in about what the student wants to accomplish. We then focus on the main concept or skill for the session, beginning with an explanation and worked example. After that, I have the student work through increasingly challenging problems while I provide guidance and feedback.
I like to end lessons with a short review of the key ideas we covered and a few problems that allow the student to demonstrate what they can do independently. I can also provide suggestions for what to practice between sessions based on the student's specific needs.
Who My Lessons Are For
I primarily work with elementary, middle, and high school students, particularly students looking for support in English, mathematics, and study skills. I can also help students with academic organization, test preparation, homework support, and developing effective study habits.
I am especially comfortable working with students who feel overwhelmed by a subject or who understand individual concepts but struggle to put everything together. I adapt the pace to the individual student rather than using the same approach for everyone.
