About Ashley
Hey y'all! My name is Ashley, and I am currently heading into my senior year at the University of Arkansas. I am majoring in secondary English education with a minor in history. I love arts & crafts and to travel! I believe in order to help and teach others, I must first understand the beautiful differences in our world. I love animals of all kinds, but I am TERRIFIED of birds (I am working on it! Trust!) I get very excited for the little things in life such as a pretty cloud or a smile on a stranger's face!

When going into a lesson, I first want to acknowledge the student's strengths and their background knowledge on the topic. After those are established, the lesson will typically follow the student's interests and be intertwined with the standard that needs to be met. Depending on the work we are doing during a session will determine the approach taken when learning or refreshing a concept. For example, if we are focusing on editing and/or revising a paper, we will not only look at the paper at hand, but also other pieces of work by the student to see patterns, we will look at other essays from historical figures to recognize the transformation of grammar, syntax, and more. I like to focus on what a students needs are, so whether that be a unit or a specific task, I want to help the student to the best of both of our abilities!
