About Jay
I am currently studying Mathematics at University of York. Subjects like Maths and Physics can be daunting for students, but I hope to not only help them achieve their desired grades, but also to find greater enjoyment and confidence. I hope to be able to reduce the anxiety around these subjects, and be a contact of support in and out of lessons. I have helped students for over two years achieve their goals in these subjects, whether this is to achieve top grades, pass an exam, or just generally improve their ability in the subject. I look forward to continuing to do so and connect with more students.

I have two years' experience as a tutor, mainly in Maths and Physics GCSE and A Level, but have also tutored GCSE Chemistry. Moreover, I can tutor maths year 7-9. I tailor my lessons to the specific needs of the student, whether this is to achieve top grades, pass an exam, or just generally improve their ability in the subject. I teach students topics in a unique and varied way that incorporates real-world objects and relates concepts so students form a deeper understanding of their subject. Also, if focusing on examinations, I teach students exam techniques, revision strategies (such as planning revision, memory techniques) and general strategies to achieve their desired grades. I can offer one-off sessions to structured plans, and can vary the length of sessions to suit the needs of the student. Typically I offer 45-60 min sessions where I will create a lesson plan based on the topics and specifics the student wants to go over. I can arrange sessions as frequently or infrequently as desired, and will be a point of contact if anything comes up between sessions.
