About Joy
I specialise in maths and physics, which are often the subjects that people have the least confidence in. There is a belief that you must have a certain type of brain to be able to understand it, which is incorrect. Everyone has the ability to understand and even enjoy maths, some people just need a bit more time. I love breaking this misconception and watching students find joy in a subject that once brought them such anxiety. I don’t want learning to be a boring or forced activity, I want it to be seen as the pleasure and privilege that it is.

I strongly believe that understanding is more important than memorising. I want my lessons to leave people feeling brighter and smarter, with more confidence in their subject. I have tutored teenagers who thought they had no hope of getting better, and I loved watching them realise that they had a lot to give. I like my lessons to be structured, starting with the most difficult topic, breaking it down until they can teach it to others and then practising with guided examples. With my care and time, you will excel!
