About Thierry
I am a finance and data professional with extensive experience working with SQL, reporting, business intelligence and data engineering in international organisations.
I use SQL professionally to extract, transform, validate and analyse data from large business systems, including ERP and finance environments. My work regularly involves joins, CTEs, window functions, complex filtering, data quality checks and preparing datasets for reporting and Power BI.
Because my background combines finance, analytics and data engineering, I tend to approach SQL from a practical business perspective rather than as pure computer science. I enjoy breaking complex queries into clear logical steps and helping people understand how SQL fits into real reporting and analysis workflows.
I am patient, analytical and practical in my approach, and I particularly enjoy helping beginners, analysts, finance professionals and career changers build confidence working directly with data.

My SQL lessons focus on using SQL to solve real data problems rather than memorising syntax in isolation.
Topics can include SELECT statements, filtering, joins, aggregations, CASE expressions, CTEs, subqueries, window functions, data cleaning, debugging and structuring queries for reporting and analysis.
I teach SQL from an analyst and data engineering perspective, using realistic business datasets and examples. You are also welcome to bring your own query, dataset, university assignment or workplace problem and we can work through it together.
Lessons can be adapted for complete beginners, finance professionals, analysts, career changers or anyone who wants to become more confident working directly with data.
A typical lesson is 60 minutes and focuses on understanding the logic behind the query, so you can apply the same approach independently afterwards.
