About Brittany
I have spent over nine years helping pianists of all ages discover the joy of playing with confidence and expression. My background blends academic training with a Bachelor of Music in Sacred Music, where I focused on both piano and organ. Alongside classical and church music, I have a deep practical passion for historical American styles like ragtime, stride, and early jazz piano.
I love sharing these energetic and syncopated genres with both school-aged students and adults who want to expand their musical horizons. In my lessons, we work on developing a strong left-hand rhythm and learning how to improvise within these classic styles. For instance, I recently helped an adult student who only knew classical pieces learn how to play a lively Scott Joplin rag.
We broke down the steady walking bass lines and syncopated melodies until they could play the entire piece with a natural, swinging bounce. I tailor my teaching to match your personal goals so that you can master the exact historical techniques you are passionate about. My studio is a warm and highly encouraging environment where players of all skill levels can thrive.

My teaching methodology focuses deeply on developing strong auditory skills to help you become a much more intuitive musician. We will cover essential ear training for pianists, which includes learning how to identify chords, melodies, and rhythms entirely by ear. I also guide students through specific exercises designed to develop perfect pitch and recognize musical patterns instantly.
This training is incredibly useful for creative minds who write their own music or produce tracks digitally using computer software. For example, I recently worked with a student who had great ideas for songs but struggled to translate the melodies from their head onto the keyboard. We practiced identifying basic interval patterns, and soon they could play any melody on the keys on their very first try without needing sheet music.
This approach is suitable for all levels, from absolute beginners to advanced players wanting to sharpen their listening skills. I am here to support you at every single step of your journey to ensure you excel and gain complete confidence. We will work on simple tricks that make chord progressions easy to recognize in any song you hear.
