About John
I am a full-time professional musician who actively performs and records. I have my own studio where I actively teach a small, select group of students. I have over ten years experience as a band director and over twenty years experience as a private instructor. I frequently perform and record both classical music and jazz.

My teaching method for sight reading is to get students to focus on basic symbols and rhythmic patterns, learn to subdivide and understand note values and metronome markings. Jazz training includes the use of 4 and 8 note motifs, subdividing and learning to swing in "two" as opposed to "four". (If you do not understand this jargon or these terms then this course is for you.)
