About Sandra
Hi! I’m a dental school student with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and over six years of experience tutoring high school and college STEM subjects. I have also worked for three years as a substitute teacher in a San Bernardino County school district, where I supported students with a wide range of learning styles and academic needs.
I specialize in breaking down complex science concepts into simple, easy-to-understand steps. My goal is not just to help students complete assignments, but to help them truly understand the material so they feel confident tackling problems on their own.

My approach as a tutor is centered on making complex concepts understandable and building students’ confidence in the subject. I focus on breaking down difficult material into simple, logical steps and using examples, analogies, and practice problems to reinforce understanding. I also adapt my teaching style to each student’s learning style so they can grasp the material in a way that works best for them.
A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previously covered material to reinforce retention. We then work through the student’s current topics together, where I explain key concepts, demonstrate problem-solving strategies, and guide the student through practice questions. I encourage students to explain their thinking so I can identify gaps in understanding and help strengthen their reasoning.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my combination of classroom teaching experience and strong STEM background. As a dental school student with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and years of tutoring experience, I am comfortable explaining scientific concepts in multiple ways until they click. My experience as a substitute teacher has also helped me work effectively with students at different learning levels.
My lessons are ideal for middle school, high school, and college students who need help with STEM subjects such as biology, chemistry, math and general science, whether they are preparing for exams, improving their grades, or strengthening their foundational understanding.
