I often work with Jo, preparing for professional performances and auditions. Recently, she helped me refine long monologues meant to be done in German and Italian accents. Jo is such fun to work with, and has a brilliant way of summing up what we've covered, so that you can hang onto what you learn and keep improving between the sessions. I have been using Jo as my dialect coach for over a year. She is unquestionably the best voice coach I have ever had.
A few years ago I attempted to learn a French accent for a film and had several sessions over several weeks with a voice coach, but got nowhere. After one hour with Jo, I had cracked it. She was able to find a 'way in' to the accent that others had not managed.
Jo's many years of working as an actress herself give her an extra edge as a voice coach, as she is able to understand the scene the way an actor does, and often ends up giving me tips on characterisation as well.
She is also always available last minute to do sessions over zoom which is incredibly helpful, as I often receive audition requests with as little as 48 hours notice. Yet Jo is always on hand and always manages to fit me in!
