About Juliana
I live in Canberra and I'm a native Australian speaker. Since being in Canberra, I have worked with a great deal of people where English is their second language and that's what sparked my interest in teaching English as a second language. I qualified as a Teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) in early 2011. Soon after I worked in a small college in Canberra teaching Korean students. Later on that same year, I went overseas to teach English to students ranging from a 10-year-old child, to a mining engineer wanting to improve his English to make presentations in Canada. The principal of the English language teaching school was also one of my students. When I returned from overseas, I taught English to wives of diplomats. I get great pleasure in seeing my students flourish in their English skills by being able to converse with the general public, school teachers and other professionals. I love to be instrumental in their improvement of their listening, reading and writing skills which gives them their confidence to communicate with their peers. I like to do conversation English as I am interested in people as a whole and I'm a firm believer that, although I might be the English language teacher, I can learn much from my students.

Teaching English is a passion for me. With every new student, I look forward to opening up a whole new world by helping my students navigate the English language and all its complexities.
I work with many people where English is their second language and they like to practice a more advanced way of speaking English with me. They tell me that when they can see that their English is improving they feel more confident in doing things like shopping, speaking to someone on the phone, understanding what is being said to them including going to see a doctor.
I conduct two hour sessions with a 10 min break if the student desires. I like to incorporate reading and writing in the first hour and listening and speaking in the second.
The last 10 minutes or so is conversation English on a topic of their choice but I have topics that they can choose from as well.
