About Vela
Teaching guitar has been my passion for over 7 years, and my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Guitar Performance has given me the foundation to share it meaningfully. My lessons are crafted around your unique goals, style, and learning pace. I specialize in slide guitar, open tunings, and the fingerpicking blues traditions that define so much of American music. I guide students through the feel and phrasing that make the blues timeless. You’ll explore regional styles — Delta’s grit, Chicago’s electricity, and Piedmont’s intricate picking. My approach is patient and motivating, designed to help you enjoy every step of progress. I believe learning should feel personal, not mechanical. We focus on tone, rhythm, and storytelling through music. Every lesson mixes structure with freedom, theory with intuition. Whether you dream of performing live or playing for yourself, I’ll help you get there confidently. Together, we’ll build your technique, deepen your understanding, and awaken your creativity. My teaching philosophy centers on creativity, exploration, and musical flexibility. The guitar is a gateway to so many styles — and I help students unlock them all. We dive into funk rhythm, metal energy, country twang, and jazz sophistication. Each lesson highlights what makes these styles distinct and how to adapt your playing to fit them. My methodology trains both technical skill and musical awareness. You’ll learn how to shape tone, adjust feel, and communicate emotion across genres. I’m very good with The Teenage Rebel and The Recording Artist, guiding them to express their personality through diverse sounds. I focus on helping students break habits and discover fresh ideas. Lessons balance fun with structure, so learning feels exciting and purposeful. We also develop improvisation and ear training to boost creative confidence. Over time, you’ll become fluent in multiple genres, not just one. The goal is simple — play freely, think musically, and sound like yourself in any style.
