About Callie
Welcome to my piano studio. With 4 years of teaching and a BA in Musicology (Piano History), I help pianists unlock their jazz imagination. Improvisation and comping sit at the heart of my method. I teach students to build rich harmonic language and understand jazz form deeply. Lessons include ear training for complex chords, transcription of great solos, and rhythm shaping. I support students from Early Intermediate onward, including professional jazz musicians. Every learner receives personal guidance. I believe true musical growth comes from exploration and curiosity. My piano teaching approach is rooted in creativity and structure. Students learn to write original melodies and harmonies from the start. I teach the building blocks of music: rhythm, chord design, and expressive performance. Lessons show students how to create intros and outros that feel complete and meaningful. Songwriting becomes a way to understand theory naturally. Students learn to build repeating patterns, themes, and motifs that shape musical identity. I offer strong support to Therapy Seekers who want to release emotion through piano writing. For Jazz Pianists, I teach harmonic substitutions, rhythmic phrasing, and improvisation tools that transform into original music. Composition practice includes melody shaping, chord voicing, emotional pacing, and structure planning. Learners develop ear skills by identifying chords, intervals, and pitch movement. Every lesson helps students grow stronger in creative decision-making. I provide ongoing feedback, helping each pianist shape songs into polished works. The goal is to help students write meaningful music that reflects who they are. My method builds confidence and artistic independence. I believe every student can write a powerful musical legacy through original piano compositions.
