About Yocelyn
Hi! I’m Yocelyn Gea, a drummer and music educator from Indonesia. I’m a Drum Performance graduate from Berklee College of Music, and I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge through engaging, personalized lessons. I have studied with notable musicians/music educators such as Billy Kilson, Neal Smith, Dave Dicenso, Marko Djordjevic, John Patittuci, Mimi Jones, and Rufus Reid.
My teaching covers a lot of way to use rudiments as your fundamental root of drumming, repertoire across various genres, as well as strong foundations of music theory. As a young, experienced drummer, I design each lesson to fit your individual goals and interests, helping you grow while enjoying the process.

In my lesson, I will teach:
- Rudimental exercise & application on drumset (Alan Dawson, Marvin Smitty Smith)
- Grooves (Jazz/Fusion/Contemporary, RnB, Funk, Latin, Brazilian)
- Repertoires (based on your preferred genre, or non-preferred genre)
- Metric Modulation
- Music Theory (How to read drum notation, how to read charts/leadsheet, sight reading)
My goal is to help you enjoy playing drums as much as I do, while developing the skills needed to become a well-rounded musician. If there’s something specific you want to learn, I’m happy to create lessons based on your interests :)
