About Isobel
I am a student at Durham University studying Politics with Geography and Sociology. I spent two years tutoring Geography and Sociology at school. All of my students obtained their target grades. I come from a family of teachers, making me extremely familiar with the most effective tutoring methods, while also giving me access to important learning resources.
In the process of achieving my grades, I have also acquired a detailed understanding of how to go about learning not just content, but also how to achieve in the context of an exam. These skills are simple and easy to transfer to any student willing to learn.

My previous students have ranged from age 14-17, meaning I have experience teaching both GCSE and A-level. I have also mentored degree level politics students in adjusting well to university life.
My lesson structure tends to feature a brief conversation with the student about the topic, to gain more insight into their existing knowledge and to know what we need to work on. I will then give an outline of the content we need to know, and the skills involved, setting these out as 'learning objectives'. From this I will proceed to explain key terms and content, followed by more interactive learning with the student asking questions verbally, and being set small written tasks to feedback.
At the beginning of each student's time with me, I will always produce an itinerary and specification detailing a schedule for the coming weeks of learning. This will be made with what progress the student has outlined they want to make in mind.
