About Chris

I am a highly experienced teacher and have taught Art and Photography at several highly acclaimed secondary schools in the UK. I have expert knowledge of my subject and massively enjoy sharing this with learners. I am passionate about all things Art and I am continuously adding to my understanding of the subject through research, exhibition visits, and practical enquiry. I know how people learn best, and my goal is to always make your learning interesting, engaging, relaxed, and fun. I have a Fine Art degree from the Technological University Dublin and have exhibited my work in Ireland, the UK, and internationally. Photography and sculpture are my main specialisms. However, I am assured in teaching across most media including; Painting, Digital Art, Drawing, Printing, Design, Installation, Film, and Bookmaking.

About the lesson

I am a passionate and effective art teacher with expert knowledge of the subject. I will personalize lessons to your learning needs. Having identified what it is that you would like to achieve, I will plan a series of exciting and engaging tasks that will see you progress in your chosen topic. Lessons will last between 45 and 60 mins. You will be required to carry out agreed tasks in between so that we have something to work with. This might be anything from sourcing materials, researching artists or techniques, to making work that I can give you expert feedback on. Lessons will consist of a combination of discussion and practical instruction. I am confident teaching all ages of learners. Whether you are a young person looking to improve your drawing skills to enter an art prize or preparing your work for an application to art school, I will be able to support you through concise and achievable step-by-step instruction. You'll also have a lot of fun too! Adult learners are also very welcome, whether you're a complete beginner or looking for some specific skill development. As a subject lead, I have lots of experience teaching art teachers too. I am happy to tutor online or in-person in the Co. Cork area.

Perfect! We are working with Chris currently now since the beginning of term, and I can confidently say that he is one of the best tutors I've come across. Chris is incredibly professional and always prepared for the sessions. He makes the learning process interactive and enjoyable, fostering an engaging environment where my son feels comfortable participating. Chris's patience knows no bounds, and consistently finds alternative approaches to explain difficult concepts until fully grasped. Their passion for the subject shines through their teaching, and it's evident that they genuinely care about their students' success. I'm grateful for Chris's dedication and highly recommend him to anyone seeking a top tutor."

Chris knows his subject and loves sharing this with others. His knowledge of historical and contemporary practice feeds into his teaching as does the depth and breadth of his skill base beyond Photography (Print, Paint, Film & Video, Sculpture…).
Would highly recommend Chris; a bright, fun and great teacher!

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Chris for 3 years. He makes learning fun and accessible while always having the highest expectations of his students. Chris is a storyteller and brings his teaching to life with relatable anecdotes that make his lessons memorable. I have this year inherited a group of his former students, and am consistently impressed with their confidence in independently developing their personal projects and engaging with contemporary practices. He has clearly made a lasting positive impact upon them. Chris is a great teacher with genuine and infectious passion for his subject.

Partook in a photography lesson with Chris outside of Superprof. Chris offers a great deal of insight throughout his lessons and takes the necessary time to make sure you, the student, understands the topic being covered perfectly. I couldn't be happier with my lesson taught by Chris and it really helped me to understand and emphasise that my passion in life is photography. I strongly reccomend this tutor to anyone who has an interest in Art/Photography, 5 stars!!!
