About Thatcher
I am a flute tutor with 10 years of experience and over 150 students taught successfully. I believe in making lessons structured, engaging, and fun. I emphasise technical skills such as breath control, tone production, finger agility, and rhythm, while encouraging creativity and expressive performance. Lessons are tailored to each student’s learning style and goals, ensuring consistent progress and motivation.
In addition, I cover sight-reading, music theory, and performance preparation, giving students a complete musical foundation. My aim is to inspire students to play with confidence, skill, and a lifelong love for music.

I teach flute using a methodology that combines adaptability, collaboration, and encouragement. I begin by assessing each student’s learning style and tailoring lessons to their strengths, pace, and musical preferences. This ensures lessons are both productive and enjoyable, while building technical skill and expressive ability.
Flexibility is central to my approach. I adjust exercises, repertoire, and lesson plans according to the student’s progress and goals. Collaboration is emphasised through duets, group activities, and performance simulations, fostering teamwork, confidence, and musical communication. Positivity guides every session, providing students with a supportive environment where they feel encouraged to explore, overcome challenges, and celebrate progress.
In addition to flute performance, I integrate music theory, sight-reading, rhythm exercises, and ear training. My methodology nurtures both technical mastery and creative expression, helping students grow into confident, versatile, and passionate musicians.
